Custom Sticker Printing Guide
By Mike Bannoura
Custom stickers are one of the most versatile and cost-effective marketing tools available. They work as product labels, packaging seals, laptop decorations, bumper stickers, event giveaways, and brand awareness tools. At PostNet Denver, we print stickers for breweries, food trucks, retail shops, startups, and nonprofits across Denver, and demand keeps growing because stickers simply work.
The first decision is material. White vinyl is the most popular choice. It is durable, waterproof, and UV-resistant, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Clear vinyl creates a no-label look that is popular for product packaging, water bottles, and windows. Paper stickers are the most affordable option for indoor use, event badges, and shipping labels. For premium applications, holographic and metallic materials add a high-end feel.
Next, choose your cut style. Die-cut stickers are cut to the exact shape of your design, giving a custom look that stands out. Kiss-cut stickers are cut through the vinyl but not the backing paper, leaving a border around the design that makes them easy to peel. Sheet stickers place multiple designs on a single sheet, ideal for sticker packs or product label sets. Roll labels are printed on a continuous roll for high-volume application with dispensers or labeling machines.
When preparing your artwork, work at 300 DPI minimum and provide at least 0.125 inches of bleed beyond your die-cut line. For die-cut stickers, you will need to provide or specify the cut path. Simple shapes like circles, squares, and rounded rectangles are the most affordable to die-cut. Complex shapes with intricate details are possible but may cost more. Send your files as PDF, AI, or high-resolution PNG with a transparent background.
